The Guardians of Gin&Tonic
In 1858, Erasmus Bond created the first ever tonic. Not a soda, a tonic. This noble concoction served not only the purpose of healing the Malaria Fever but was soon mixed with the people’s drink of choice at the time, namely Gin. Erasmus quickly noticed this unusual habit of mixing Gin with Tonic and started experimenting with different recipes soon after.
During this process it became obvious that certain guidelines were necessary to achieve the perfect marriage. He counselled with many of his colleagues on how to implement awareness in the people. It soon became clear that word of mouth and even written and recorded messages would not suffice in ensuring that “The 10 Commandments of the Gin&Tonic” as they were dubbed, would be followed correctly back then, in the present as well as in the future.
As with all great minds, Erasmus was very conscious about his own limitations and realised that he alone did not possess enough energy or time to fulfil this mission on his own. He therefore began recruiting the best mixologists, bartenders, chefs and others involved in the business of great taste to preach the good word. These noblest of men and women, became known as The Guardians of Gin & Tonic. Unfortunately even this was not enough…
Erasmus became desperate to find a solution to this problem. However, during his meetings and travels he met an extraordinary scientist, who shall remain nameless. He acquainted him with the secrets of time travel.
In a moment of enlightenment, Erasmus saw the answer to his problems and seized the opportunity. He decided to take a leap of fate and in his conviction of spreading the good word, became the first ever time-traveller. Today he continues to defy the rules of space and time in order to ensure the perfect marriage he stumbled upon in 1858, which goes as followed:
These Ten Commandments are as relevant today as they were in 1858 and are still upheld by the unique and extraordinary league of gentlemen and women still known as The Guardians of Gin & Tonic.
